Italian Songbook Project with Nevill Holt Opera
Singing helps improve your mood, reduces stress, lessens anxiety, develops the memory, builds confidence and provides comfort. Singing in Italian gives you an insight into the magical world of opera. Many of the most famous operas are written with Italian librettos. Basic knowledge of a foreign language helps improve perception, memory and multi-tasking.
The Italian Songbook from Nevill Holt Opera project brings the disciplines of singing and learning parts of a foreign language together. The project will open your mind to some of the most beautiful songs in classical music. Italian is a wonderful language in which to sing, as you it uses broad open vowels, allowing you to sing with a smooth vocal line. This encourages you to find as much expression in your singing as possible.
All students from 11-18 are welcome to take part. An online course will be provided, alongside weekly virtual group sessions and masterclasses (each Monday at 3.30pm). You will also be encouraged to record yourself singing so that our NHO Young Artists and provide feedback and help you to improve even further. We look forward to guiding you through this project and giving you all the support you need to succeed at learning and perfecting these songs.
